I am in total agreement, and I'm so glad you had the guts to post this. It's true, most horse people have dogs. But as you pointed out, they should be left at home if attending any type of horse event. And yes, the dog owner should definitely be fined if damage is caused. I had a horse that was chased through a fence and suffered grievous injury, so this hits close to home. And yes, I would love to see how dog exhibitors would react if a horse got loose and chased their animals at a competition grounds. Bottom line is: horse events should be DOG FREE.

First of all thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts and story 🤗

Personally I cannot believe that it is still ok to bring dogs to events anymore. I know some high profile indoor events really made strict rules about the rider's dogs so I hope that will spread across more events and also down to the spectators.

We used to have a national TD who worked relentlessly with this question. Basically no one backed him up on it. Could be lack of guts, cause I seriously cannot believe everybody believe it is "cute and funny" with dogs chasing horses and ponies or any other animals for that matter.

Sorry to hear about your horse, we live in a National Park and I don't know how many dogs we see that are off the lead even though that is strictly forbidden 365 days a year...
