š“ Spend more time with your horse
Last week I was home sick, and during a dull moment on the sofa it struck me [again] how easy it is to lose track of time and literally waste hours of ones life just scrolling on the phone. Not even meaning to, it just happens.
Index finger on screen, and there it is a blur of news, ads and other peopleās lives. Total nonsense stealing focus on ones own daily life and routines.
Horses donāt demand your attention, they simply offer you a place to put it. A place thatās quiet, honest, and still very much alive.
Even so there are too many riders out there who rather sit on their phones. They are so freakin' busy what is going on in cyberspace they scroll on their phones when in the stable, when [if even] hacking in the forest, warming up for a show jumping class and so on.
In all honesty some riders would probably be better riders and do better results if they put down their phones and focused on their riding, training, horse business or just about anything else that comes around it. Cause presence matters.
Horses know when youāre truly there, and they for sure know when you're not. So here's a challenge. Next time you head to the stable, tuck your phone away, and let it stay there.
Cause thereās a quiet joy in being with your horse in the in-between times, when nobodyās watching, and thereās nothing to prove.
Thatās when the real trust grows.
Thatās where the stories begin.
So look up.
Brush a bit slower.
Take your time.
Watch how the light falls across their shoulder.
Notice something youāve been missing, and remember this, horses never scroll past you. So why would you?
